New Rules for Immigration Raids

Pursuant to a federal court settlement in connection with immigration raids in New York, immigration officials agreed to restrictions on warrantless raids of immigrants’ homes.  At issue was whether the immigrants had given consent to the searches.  Now immigration officials must seek consent in a language spoken by the resident.  Also, according to the settlement the DHS agreed to terminate removal proceedings against four of the plaintiffs in the suit.
